'Disappointed, but faithful' Tiger Woods to miss event he hosts

Tiger Woods of the U.S. will miss the Hero World Challenge, a PGA Tour event held in December every year.

"It's disappointing, but I can't participate in this year's Hero World Challenge. But I will stick to my role as the host throughout the event," Woods said on social media on Sunday.

The Hero World Challenge, which has been held since 2000, will be hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation and will be held for four days without cuts with only 20 players, including top world ranking players, major champions, and invited players from the host company.

It is not a regular PGA Tour tournament, but it is given world ranking points in golf.

Woods is the host of the tournament, but he has won the championship five times, the most.

Last year's winner was Scottie Scheffler of the U.S.

This year, it will be held from December 6-9 at Albany Golf Course (par 72) in New Providence, Bahamas.

Woods, who suffered numerous injuries and surgeries, had many precedents of using the tournament as a return match even when he took the entire regular season off. 메이저놀이터

Not participating in the Hero World Challenge also means Woods is not in the best shape.

Woods has participated in only five tournaments this year, and in September, he underwent endoscopic surgery to relieve neuralgia in his back.

"The surgery went well. I expect it to help relieve muscle spasms and pain that I have experienced throughout this season," he said.

Meanwhile, Woods announced that he will play Justin Thomas (USA), who considers him like his younger brother, Jason Day (Australia), and Nick Dunlap (USA), who won the first amateur title in 33 years at the PGA Tour American Express in January, as invited players.
